(GREENSBORO, NC) – Sanctuary House has received the prestigious three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), an international, nonprofit health and human services accreditor. This is the sixth consecutive three-year CARF accreditation for Sanctuary House dating back to the initial accreditation in 2008.

This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be given to an organization and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation puts itself through a rigorous peer review process that includes more than 1,200 standards of excellence. It has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit its commitment to offering programs and services that are measurable, accountable, and of the highest quality.

“I am incredibly proud of our staff, whose hard work is reflected in this prestigious accomplishment,” says Jodi Lorenzo, Executive Director/CEO of Sanctuary House. “This accreditation reaffirms Sanctuary House’s dedication to continually enhancing the quality of our services, furthering our mission to facilitate the recovery and rehabilitation of adults experiencing symptoms of mental illness.”

The comprehensive three-year accreditation encompasses various Sanctuary House programs and services, including Community Employment Services, Community Housing, Community Integration, Personal Support Services, Supported Living, and Governance Standards.

Highlighting Sanctuary House’s exceptional performance, the CARF report commended several key aspects:

  • Highly competent leadership team dedicated to supporting staff members, continuously improving and developing the organization’s policies and procedures, and serving as an advocate for both clients and staff members.
  • Being highly regarded in the community and building positive relationships with partners and clients.
  • Holding safety as a high priority.
  • High satisfaction from persons served, families, and other stakeholders.
  • Outstanding facilities that further help clients find a safe haven.
  • Longevity of staff, which provides continuity to the organization’s mission.
